How to Crochet Chain Stitch

The Chain Stitch (CH) is the first stitch you'll learn in crochet. All you need is a crochet hook and some yarn. Begin with your crochet hook in a Slip Knot loop. Yarn Over (place the yarn over the hook from back to front), then pull it through your loop. This is one chain stitch. Practice this over and over until your stitches are consistently the same size, not too loose or too tight. The photo above shows a 15 chain stitches. Most crochet projects worked in rows will begin with a beginning chain such as this. Once you've mastered this stitch, then you can move on to learning more stitches.

My video below gives you a demonstration of how to and how NOT to crochet a chain stitch.

Thanks for watching!
